Website of the Week: Pixlr.com

Hello and welcome to the SACGS Website of the Week. This week’s pick is Pixlr.com. This link lets you go straight into the editor. What is Pixlr? Pixlr is an image editor, very similar to Adobe Photoshop, but it is completely online. It has a very easy to use interface, especially if you are familiar to Photoshop. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to do some quick photo editing for any computer connected to the internet. Here are some images of Pixlr.com:

Podcast Pick of the Week: Tekzilla

Tekzilla from Revision3 is one of my podcasts that I listen to weekly. Tekzilla is hosted by Patrick Norton and Veronica Belmont and episodes are released weekly. This podcast is mostly listener powered as the podcast is based off of questions sent in by listeners. This should definitely be on the podcast list of every geek out there. There are also daily tips that are released on weekdays. Disclaimer: This podcast is not completely family friendly but most things are edited out.

New Sections of SACGS: Picks of the Week

Here at SACGS, we always want to have new content. An easy way to do this I believe that we would have picks of different things each week. Some examples of picks would be podcasts, applications, web sites, tips, and other tech things. SACGS is now ready to give at least one pick every week to keep the content coming. Of course, this doesn’t apply if we are on vacation or something. Thanks again for reading SACGS. Send emails for suggestions to theR...@gmail.com

Shortened URLs: The New Keywords

Do you remember that whenever you’d see a commercial, at the end it would say, “Keyword: {insert name of company here}”? Well, those have died down but really they have been brought back to life by micro-blogging services like Twitter. Why? Because people needed shortened URLs to be able to fit them into a tweet. Sounds just like keywords right? Now if SACGS had keywords, which it doesn’t, it wouldn’t say Keyword: SACGS, it would say http://sn.im/sacgs. See anything similar? I think that these keywords didn’t die, they were just replaced. Now if everyone agreed on one service, we could have browser integration and it would be keywords all over again. Now take some time and think about that. And let me know what you think at s...@gmail.com

The Big Switch!

SACGS has made the decision to switch from being a WordPress.com blog to being a Blogger.com blog. Why did we make this decision some may ask. We have done this for the welfare of the blog. With Blogger, we get free custom HTML code, and in turn, custom CSS. Expect a total redesign of this site soon but not to worry, all of the SACGS goodness of the posts is still going to be available at sacgs.wordpress.com just not updated.
